This seems like a simple question, but with all the different types of bars available the answer can be complicated. In addition, if you factor in all the different preferences people have this can be an even more challenging question. For example, some people want a bar that is high in protein; others are looking for a short ingredient list. You have to take into consideration allergens, artificial sweeteners, added sugar, fiber content, vitamin and minerals, calories- the list goes on and on!

Therefore, we’ve decided to break down some of the most popular bars on the market to make it easier on the consumer to choose which bars best fits their needs. However, this may be too much fuel for the “average Joe” just looking for a quick snack. Excellent source of fiber and insoluble fiber!

Kind Bar Almond and Coconut

Comments: This bar is a good source of fiber but lacks protein. Kind Bar does make a higher protein bar called “plus protein” which contains 10 g of protein. The main ingredient in this bar is almonds, which are pack with heart healthy fat and fiber which will help keep you fuller longer!

Comments: **the sugar in this bar comes only from natural sources (dates, raisins, and apple). Therefore, there is no added sugar (ex. Sugar, syrup, molasses, etc.) in this bar. This bar also contains an excellent source of fiber and is ideal for those with multiple food allergies. However, it does lack protein at only 4 g.

Quest Bar Mixed Berry Bliss

Comments: This bar is low in sugar however it does contain several sources of artificial sweeteners. Therefore, this is not the best choice for those trying to avoid artificial sweeteners.  This bar contains an excellent source of fiber and protein.

*The American Heart Association recommends no more than 6 tsp of added sugar per day for women and 9 tsp for men.
