Spring is in full bloom and the month of Ramadan is fast approaching. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world abstain from food and drink form sunrise to sunset; a sacrifice that offers spiritual nourishment in return. With Ramadan starting just a few days before the summer solstice, this Ramadan is set to bring us some of the longest days of fasting we may have in our lifetime. The days will only provide us with only about 7 hours for eating and drinking, much of which will be spent sleeping. Therefore, it’s imperative that we make the most of those hours, using them to nourish and fuel ourselves properly for the daylight hours. We need to make every bite and every sip count. Over the next couple weeks, in out pre-Ramadan series, we will be sharing some tips to help you work towards that goal. Here are just a few of the topics that we plan to cover:
- Proper hydration, including tips for consuming adequate fluids
- Simple suhoor (pre-dawn meal) options
- Building meals that help sustain energy throughout the day
- Health benefits of dates
- Other topics, based on your responses and questions.
Hopefully, these tips will help you confident that you and your family are maintaining proper nourishment throughout the month and making every bite and every sip count. Stay tuned!Share this post
